Alan’s deep interest in fashion, urban lifestyle communities and people in general is what drives his vision as a photographer. For him, photography truly is an extension of his purpose as a human being: to genuinely face and connect with others and to try and tease out the beautiful hidden parts. More than any technical ability or business savvy–which he’s not short on either–that really is Alan’s greatest strength. Looking at his portrait photography shows how his subjects are willing to be vulnerable in front of his lens because they trust him, which in turn brings out the best in them.

 Since his early involvement in the late 70’s mod, rude boy and ska movements of his hometown of London, popular culture and its subcultures have always intrigued his imagination.

After a creative career spanning over two decades and covering the fields of advertising, music, film, and design with a wide range of clients such as Warner Brothers, Toyota, Saachi&Saachi, Blur, Channel Ten Australia, Sony Music, Frontier Touring, Trader Joe’s, ORACLE UK and Chrome Industries, Alan has settled in San Francisco and stuck with his greatest creative passion, photography.
